Woodland
Biofuels Inc. is the
privately-owned developer and marketer of patented processing technologies
that use waste biomass and biosolids to produce chemical products
and alternative fuels that are conventionally derived from fossil
fuels or fermentation of grains.
We don't use food crops as feedstock.
There is a huge, expanding supply
of waste available throughout the world which can be used efficiently
as feedstock for a Woodland plant.
We design plants that take full advantage of the
technologies' varied capabilities to suit each customer's specific
requirements. We typically sell the plants on a turnkey basis, handing
them over to the plant purchaser following commissioning. We build
the plants in partnership with Thermo Design Engineering (TDE) of
Edmonton Alberta, who have extensive experience in building chemical
and petrochemical plants all around the world.
Woodland plants typically generate
an annual Return on Capital of at least 30% from the sale of output
products.
Our technologies, Catalyzed Pressure Reduction™
(or CPR™) utilize
materials that are usually considered scrap to create highly valuable
products. In essence, our innovative technologies turn what is normally
a business expense into revenues and profits, thereby providing
solutions to problems that have existed for many years. There is
an increasing demand throughout the world for products produced
by a Woodland plant.
We address markets resulting from three major problems facing the world today:
Waste Disposal: Disposal of an ever-increasing accumulation of biomass and biosolids waste generated by industry and society (e.g. 17.7 million dry tons of wood waste are produced annually in Canada alone). Focus is shifting from traditional wasteful solutions such as dumping or burning to finding beneficial use of these renewable resources to replace fossil fuels.
Consumption of fossil fuels: Rising consumption and unstable costs of fossil fuels which provide the majority of electrical power, fuels and industrial raw materials - a situation that is aggravated on this continent by the exhaustion of reserves and the supply chain problems highlighted by the recent events in the Middle East .
Climate Change: Requirements to reduce and eliminate toxic and greenhouse gas emissions, contributed largely from insufficient use of clean-burning fuels (i.e. gasoline), consumption of fossil fuels, and the conventional processes of manufacturing and waste disposal methods.
Governments and industry around the world are facing growing pressure to find viable solutions to these major environmental and resource problem areas and Woodland 's technologies provide a world class, sustainable solution in each case. Each model of bio-processing plant converts renewable materials into one of select range of valuable chemicals, each of which have an established, substantial and growing market. Each plant can also be configured to generate green electrical power. The company's focus is to shift industry from traditional wasteful solutions, such as dumping or burning, to highly profitable use of renewable resources to replace fossil fuels. In addition to generating substantial profits for the plant owner, Woodland plants offer immediate, positive, environmental impact, from cleaning up decaying woodpiles to enabling municipalities to solve their sewage disposal problems. Of the several different technologies involved, none emit any significant amounts of greenhouse gases, allowing both business and governments to meet the universally embraced standards of the Kyoto Protocol.
Highlights of What Woodland Provides
- Cutting edge, patented technology that converts waste into fuels and chemicals -highly profitably and environmentally safely
- Increasing demand for plant products (ethanol, industrial chemicals, power and water)
- First-to-market in converting cellulose to ethanol - a major quest for global industrial research
- Woodland plants generate annual ROC of 30+% from the sale of output products such as ethanol, industrial chemicals, water and power.
- Equity partner contracted to build and commission plants around the world - Thermo Design Engineering, a leading engineering company constructs Woodland plants to the highest industry standards
- No negative environmental impact - in fact, Woodland plants can generate significant emission reduction credits
How is Woodland Different?
Economics
- No other process approaches the profitability projected for Woodland plants.
- Using feedstock with low, or negative, costs enables more profitable operation than traditional production methods.
Process Flexibility
- Woodland's CPR™ technology can respond to changes in commodity prices and maximize profits by adjusting the mix of products produced.
- The plant can be designed to incorporate optional equipment to quickly convert to produce different products, with no significant incremental outlay.
- Unlike other processes, such as fermentation, Woodland 's plants can ensure consistent, high quality, low-cost output .
Feedstock flexibility
- CPR™ can process different forms of feedstock using the same equipment, unlike enzymatic fermentation processes, wherein even minor changes necessitate different enzymes.
Choice of Location
- All other cellulose processing technologies require heating by natural gas or electricity and, therefore, must be located close to a natural gas pipeline and/or the Grid.
- Woodland 's process can be fired by biomass and can generate its own electricity, thereby providing the ultimate choice in plant location.
Heating Options
- Each plant can be heated by the combustion of natural gas, landfill gas or biomass.
Environmental impact
- Woodland's CPR™ process totally avoids release of any toxins into the environment.
- It also is typically configured to earn substantial CO2 Emission Reduction Credits
