Feedstock Availability - Biomass
- Large and growing supply of crop and wood residue
- approximately 50% of the post-milled wood residue remains unused
- Municipal Solid Waste ("MSW") is composed of approximately 65% biomass
- Governments have banned open field and pit burning, beehive burners, and placed restrictions on hog-fuel burners
- Alternative forms of disposal such as burying or cogeneration are inefficient and environmentally damaging
Feedstock Availability - Biosolids
- Biosolids (human and animal sewage) quantities increasing with growing populations but limited disposal solutions
- All existing disposal methods are:
- costly (economically inefficient)
- labor-intensive
- hazardous
- subject to government restrictions and outright bans
- environmental burden
